“All entrepreneurs, all influencers, and all thought leaders should be considering something like a podcast, because it gives you that chance to build trust ahead of time,” shares Danny Ozment, owner of Emerald City Productions.
In this episode we discuss the reasons why you should consider starting your own podcast.
A podcast is a fantastic way for people to build connections and trust with their target market. By starting a podcast and posting consistently, your listeners will build a relationship with you and begin to see you as an authority in your specific area. As your podcast grows, your body of work grows and continues to add to your authority.
There are podcasts just about every topic under the sun. So even if you don’t believe your industry would be a good fit for podcasting, you’re probably wrong. Podcasts serve as a referral marketing system because you can establish trust before meeting someone in person - especially for service-based providers like doctors, lawyers and consultants.
Starting a podcast is easier than ever before when it comes to technology. As long as you are consistent and willing to take the plunge, podcasting can take your business further and secure your position as a thought leader in your industry.
Quotes
“All entrepreneurs, all influencers, all thought leaders, all professionals brick and mortar should be considering something like a podcast, because it gives you that chance to build trust ahead of time.” (8:52-9:04 | Danny)
“I often talk about it as referral marketing on a grand scale, because it is the chance for you to establish trust and friendship with people that have a problem and need to go to a friend to ask advice and have their problem solved. And you can point them in the right direction, which is you while you're the host of a podcast.” (15:12-15:31 | Danny)
“There was actually a recent study that was released in the psychological journal PLOS1 that found that participants who listen to more podcasts per month and developed parasocial interactions with the hosts of the podcast actually felt more related to others and had more significance in their lives.” (17:28-17:51 | Danny)
“You may think, ‘oh, a podcast wouldn't be right for my industry’. But literally, there's a podcast about everything.” (27:29-27:34 | Danny)

“You have to become a community marketer and a community-style engager, and that's the way that people become known and loved and trusted in their community,” explains James Chester, co-host and co-creator of Chiro Hustle, the #1 podcast in the chiropractic space as well as a very successful Facebook ad agency for chiropractors and weight loss specialists. In this episode, we discuss the five power moves for cash-based health practitioners.
To be a successful cash-based health practitioner, you need to be the best in town at what you do and get involved in your local community. Get to know other aligned physicians in the wellness space because this will lead to a cross-referral system. Additionally, make sure your Google and Facebook reviews backup your great reputation.
With the prevalence of social media and heavy reliance on cell phones, even if you are running a brick and mortar business, it is pivotal that you invest in digital marketing. Having the right SEO in place, a good looking website with backlinks, and a strong social media presence can help you get double the amount of new patients every week.
Engaging with your local community is a great way to get your business out there and attract new patients. Whether you are in the chiropractic space or functional medicine space, these tips can help you to grow your practice and be seen as an authority in your community.
Quotes
“If you're out there and you really want to dial in on how to become a great practitioner, do the one thing that you're certified to do and do that well. And then, utilize the same services for yourself.” (5:57-6:10 | James)
“You have to get involved with the people in your community if you're a brick and mortar operation.” (11:36-11:41 | James)
“You have to become a community marketer and a community style engager. That's the way that people that provide services like yours become known and loved and trusted in the community.” (11:57-12:09 | James)
“If somebody is going to invest, they should invest in digital marketing.” (21:35-21:38 | James)

“Dopamine is what helps us initiate movement,” explains Sachin Patel, founder of The Living Proof Institute. Sachin has pioneered a revolutionary approach to patient-centric healthcare through his work and coached hundreds of practitioners worldwide. In this episode, we’re exploring how entrepreneurs can optimize their neurotransmitters for overall success.
From a genetic standpoint, Sachin recognized that he has a high tolerance for stress, making him a perfect fit for entrepreneurship. When we learn how we each operate genetically, we can put ourselves in the best environments to thrive – and that’s why genomic testing is a great tool towards optimizing our health.
For example, through an organic acids test, we can discover how much dopamine we produce, which is the motivation molecule we need to take action and get results. Ultimately, by understanding our individual neurochemistry, we can make lifestyle choices that allow us to maximize our productivity and end procrastination once and for all.
Whether we have neurotransmitter barriers or emotional challenges stemming from childhood, many factors may affect our productivity. By understanding healthy ways of gaining dopamine we can put ourselves on the path toward growth.
Quotes
“We can support entrepreneurs and their chemistry and create awareness for them in such a way that allows them to take ownership of how they steer their business.” (3:31-3:44 | Sachin)
“Dopamine is what helps us initiate movement.” (5:06-5:08 | Sachin)
“We can interject little hits of dopamine for our clients through our business.” (4:15-4:19 | Sachin)
“There's a part of us that is a little bit harder to measure. And that is our unconscious mind.” (14:24-14:20 | Sachin)
“Our chemistry and environment is our community and the circle of friends we keep.” (21:24-21:20 | Sachin)
“There's so much to be said about having the right community and people to surround yourself with.” (23:40-23:44 | Sachin)

“The reason why people fail in delegating or outsourcing is not because they didn't have the money or the business. It's usually missed expectations,” explains Karla Singson, award-winning writer, public speaker, and serial entrepreneur.
Karla has over ten years of experience growing businesses in the retail, project management and outsourcing space. With her outsourcing expertise in mind, I asked Karla to share the secrets to delegating successfully.
No matter how productive you are, there are only so many hours a day. Outsourcing tasks will help you get everything done. If you hire someone to perform a documented and repeatable process, you can set expectations and see results. Even if there are roadblocks ahead, delegating work will give you more time to foster your business’s growth and help you accomplish your dream.
A key requirement to delegating is creating proper standardized operating procedures (SOPs). Using these SOPs to explain even the most minuscule details of your processes is critical to ensure that any person can learn how to do it, no matter the circumstances. When you have documentation of your company’s procedures, whether through a recorded Loom video or google doc, your virtual assistants can take over these tasks confidently.
By giving your team members the resources to succeed, you empower them and demonstrate that you trust them with your company’s vision. If your team truly understands how their work matters and that they have a voice, you can obtain crucial feedback and discover better ways to improve your business overall.
Quotes
“If you're a visionary, and you have so many ideas for growth, you can just have people ready to take on the job and a management team to take care of your KPIs.” (6:35-6:46 | Karla)
“The reason why people fail in delegating or outsourcing is not that they don't have the money or the business. It's usually missed expectations.” (7:36-7:48 | Karla)
“The mindset you should have is, if your virtual assistant or employee contractor has to be out for a medical emergency, you need to be able to pass this on to someone else.” (15:23-15:36 | Karla)
“If you hire an outsourcing company like us, someone can help you. But if you're doing this yourself, overdo it. It's always better to overdo the preparation than not to do it enough.” (16:13-16:24 | Karla)
“If you're hiring in the Philippines or outsourcing to a developing country because it's easier for your company to scale, you have to make them believe that they're there for a reason and that you have absolute trust in their intelligence.” (23:31-23:50 | Karla)

“Health doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens in community and society,” explains Pilar Gerasimo, founding editor of Experience Life Magazine. Pilar believes we must make unconventional choices to thrive in an unhealthy world. So in this episode, we explore how to take ownership of our health and find the happiness we seek.
In an age where we are inundated with constant messaging, it’s easy to fall into cycles of burnout and emotional depletion. With busy schedules where we have to cook, clean, and work with little time to ourselves, it’s challenging to find time to rethink our health.
If we take a step back and resist our toxic default realities, we can create the space to make small changes that lead to transformative action. By making healthy choices part of who we are, we can be the change we wish to see.
In fact, in an unhealthy world, choosing health is almost like an act of rebellion. Learn more about societal sabotage, the virtuous cycle of healthy deviance, and stop being a slave to what Pilar termed the “unhealthy default reality.”
Quotes
“Health doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens in community and society.” (3:44-3:48 | Pilar)

“My passion is helping people master the art of being healthy in an unhealthy world.” (16:07-16:12 | Pilar)
“We have a built-in survival mechanism that tells us we need other people to be happy to survive.” (18:27-18:32 | Pilar)
“We need to start breaking some of the rules and assumptions about what we have to do or should do and begin thinking more for ourselves.” (27:01-27:09 | Pilar)

“Get up on the balcony three or four times a year, on a retreat or a weekend or a day-long thing to pre-decide as much as you can,” explains Teresa McCloy, author, certified coach, spiritual director, podcaster, and keynote speaker.
As the author of the book, Do What Matters, Teresa, believes work is not about how much we get done but why we’re doing it. Drawing from her past as a workaholic, Teresa shares her insight on being productive in a meaningful way!
When we look at our calendars ahead of time and pre-determine what we say yes to, we can free our brains from burning out on last-minute decisions. By scheduling the things that matter most to us, we ensure that we will do them, and allow for more moments of freedom and creative energy. Ultimately, instead of focusing on what we think we should do, we will do what we want to do, and be happier as a result.
With the power of pre-decision, you can prioritize what matters. Learn more about Teresa’s aha moment, the benefits of calendaring, and incorporating gratitude into your life.
Quotes
“Our most creative ideas, our best thoughts, the up on the balcony view that I often talk about, comes in renewable energy.” (6:40-6:50 | Teresa)
“We need to make decisions throughout the day and have great brain power, but that's going to go away. So the more things we can pre-decide, the better.” (14:00-14:09 | Teresa)
“Get up on the balcony three or four times a year, on a retreat or a weekend or a day-long thing to pre-decide as much as you can.” (17:08-17:17 | Teresa)

“Every ordinary day has an extraordinary moment. You just have to look for them.” (24:33-24:37 |Teresa)

“If you understand the science behind how referrals work, you can build a strategy around that,” explains Stacey Brown Randall, speaker and award-winning author. Featured in national publications such as Forbes and Business Daily, Stacey has demonstrated a full grasp of the referral process. Today, she shares how you can gain referrals organically without manipulation, incentives, or even asking.
If you are being referred, you need to be able to identify who your referral sources are. When you have that information, you can make a point of thanking them for their efforts and show appreciation. Ultimately, it’s important to care about how you make your referral sources FEEL because they will be more likely to keep recommending you time and time again. Expanding your business is primarily about personal connection, and that mentality will inspire a game plan that works.
Referrals are a science centered on authentic connection. Learn more about the problems with old-school strategies, finding the right referral source, and why you should track your referrals.
Quotes
“If you went looking for natural ways to generate referrals, in a way that felt authentic, where you weren't manipulating people, where you weren't taking advantage of the reciprocity, if you went looking for those books, they're not out there.” (4:24-4:47 | Stacey)
“If you understand the science behind how referrals work, you can build a strategy around that.” (5:29-5:34 | Stacey)
“It all comes down to how you make your referral source feel. That is why they choose to refer to you. And that's why they choose to remember you because you are occupying space in their mind.” (12:31-12:41 | Stacey)
“If you have referral sources that are clients or centers of influence, we do want to pay attention to the commonalities, because that will help us identify who else could be referring you.” (20:27-20:36| Stacey)
“The language we use and communicate with our referral sources comes from a place of being authentic and grateful, and wanting to make sure they know that we don't take them for granted when they do refer us.” (24:00-24:15| Stacey)

“Every story should have a point, and every point should have a story,” explains Marisa Shadrick, award-winning branding and copywriting expert. For entrepreneurs, reaching customers through marketing is critical, though it can be challenging. On today’s episode, Marisa shares her copywriting insights to help business owners communicate their messages more effectively and empathetically.
When we’re writing a copy, we often put way too much information in it to get our point across. Unfortunately, this makes our message harder to comprehend for our audience and can seem insecure. By ensuring that we only include the most resonating words and proofreading to check the flow, we can tell great stories that get people excited about what we’re selling.
In addition, emphasizing empathetic copy creates valuable connections. Learn more about the importance of storytelling in marketing, eliminating fluff language, and why dialogue is a powerful tool.
Quotes
“When we connect human to human, and use empathy, and use things like narrative writing, we can bridge the gap and connect with our audiences.” (3:12-3:23 | Marisa)
“When I became a copywriter, I was really honing in on the stories. How could I leverage this? Then I suddenly realized, as I'm looking back, when I enjoy stories, it releases endorphins. Right? That feels good. So when people read stories, they're engaged, and we're used to stories, right? And so the stories are powerful, as in, I'm sure you're familiar with breakthrough copywriting. There's a quote there that says that people can't argue with an opinion or an assertion or even a claim, or people can argue with an opinion, assertion, or claim. But it's pretty hard to argue with a story. And so, I started incorporating that in my marketing and my copywriting. And I realized it really made a big difference.” (7:51-8:38 | Marisa)
“Every story should have a point, and every point should have a story.” (11:11-11:14 | Marisa)
“We always have to put our finger on the pulse of the market today.” (16:13-16:18 | Marisa)
“Less is more. Remove anything that's filler. Every word needs to earn its right to be on that piece of communication.” (18:04-18:10 | Marisa)
“Whatever it is that you have to offer someone, it is solving a problem and meeting a need. And that is very important.” (27:48-27:57 | Marisa)
